Josef VLK sen. founded the carpenter business “VLK Stiegenbau (staircases)” in 1960 with a staff of 3 employees. Having a preference for staircases VLK specialized on building and refurbishing old staircases.

From 1983 to 2006 Herbert VLK jun., who had learned the trade from the scratch in the own firm, managed the company.

As a result of a very long cooperation between “VLK Stiegenbau” and “SELBERHERR Raumausstattung (room design)” Thomas SELBERHERR finally took over the company in May 2006.

Today there are 31 employees in the family enterprise. Keeping traditionally grown specialization and the continuous gain in modern know-how are the basis for our ongoing success.
